REVIEW: Staying Hydrated by Takeya

Handsome in black.

We are all aware that we should be drinking the doctor recommended eight glasses of water a day, but few us of manage to do so on a consistent basis. Most men should drink 3 liters of water a day or about 13 cups. An easy way to stay hydrated is to carry around a water bottle. If they weren't unsightly enough, they're most often made of plastic or metal. The plastic bottles may contain the carcinogenic BPA, and even if they don't are typically unpleasant looking. Metal bottles often leave an odd taste in your mouth, and are also aesthetically unpleasing. Enter Takeya.

The Takeya bottles are made in Japan, of glass. Unlike plastic and metal, glass does not have contaminate your water, nor does it alter its taste. Moreover, the bottles are handsomely designed and have a nice weighty feel to them. They are covered in a silicon wrapper to prevent slippage and breakage, and come in a variety of colors. The bottle tops are sturdy and are easy to use and come in a conventional twist off and flip cap. The bottles also have a strong plastic clip that you can attach to a backpack, although we haven't had the opportunity or desire to do so. Our offices are now littered with these bottles and so far we haven't managed to break them by accidentally dropping them.

The bottles come in two sizes: 22 ounces and 16 ounces. To stay properly hydrated you should go through the 22 ounce bottle ~4.5x a day.
