INTRODUCING: Jin's Eyewear's Frontswitch

Jins, the Japanese eyeglass manufacturer, recently introduced optical glasses with a magnetic clip on sunglass cover appropriately called "Frontswtich."

Jins has produced five frames in a variety of options from traditional to modern. For our review, we were able to test the Frontswtich 178, a metal frame in blue. The first thing that strikes you is how handsome this frame is and how elegant it looks in this blue color. The ordering process is a bit confusing at first. You can only select what type of lenses you want in the actual eyeglass frame and not the clip on sunglasses. In the blue frame option, for example, the sunglass clip on comes in a mirrored grey color.

The clip on it self has two magnetized pieces that allow it to magically sit on top of the eyeglass. While clip on sunglass options have existed for a long time, they typically have a wire frame to allow them to sit on top of your eyeglasses. With Jins magnetic clip ons, there is nothing to "clip on" per se. The magnets do all the work. Given this elegant solution, it would be hard for an observer to discern whether these were even eyeglasses in the first place.

For those of us that wear optical glasses, having a pair of additional sunglasses with optical lenses can both be a pain to carry around and expensive depending upon the frame and lenses options. Jins is a great option for most eyeglass wearers that also would occasionally like to wear sunglasses.
